HISTORY OF CHRIST FOR MOLDOVA CHRISTIAN COMPLEX Since the early 20's the Pentecostal church has existed in Moldova but was illegal until 1993.. On 8 February 1993 God worked in a special way and the Government officially recognized the Pentecostal movement, approving the statute of the Union of Pentecostal Churches. At the end of 1993 the Pentecostal Union’s headquarters building, which was bought by the help of an Assemblies of God church from USA, led by Rev. Frank Martin, was consecrated. At this time, Bishops Peter Borsch and Victor Pavlovski , invited Rev. Doru Cirdei, a Romanian, to take the position of General Secretary for the Pentecostal Union. Then the Union included eighty four churches. After arriving in Moldova as a missionary, Rev. Doru Cirdei received a renewed vision of working, as before, in the planting of new churches. On 16 July 1994 a hall for evangelistic meetings was rented in the downtown of Chisinau. God has blessed this work and many people have found salvation through Jesus Christ. In 1994 the believers from the newly planted Philadelphia church started to pray regularly for a private church building. In 1996, after 2 years, God answered in a miraculous way and a family from USA, Stanley and Helen Walters, through the cooperation of Christ for the Nations Institute helped the purchasing of a building with two levels and a basement. The number of regular attendants in 1996 was up to 300 people. God has put into the heart of Doru Cirdei to start a Bible School, because of the great need in the workers of the Gospel in R. Moldova. Therefore on 15 September 1996 the official opening of the Bible School of 3 years, day courses, took place in Chishinau. During one year this building has been remodeled and fixed for the functioning of the church and Bible School. Besides the growing of the church to the number of 500, new churches have been started in the towns of Nisporeni, Micleusheni, Orhei, Ialoveni, Braneshti, Bubuieci, Calarasi, Cojushna, Panasesti, Vasieni, Voinova, Floresti, Ungheni, Cantemir, Leova, Visinesti, Sangera, Floreni the prison from the Chishinau and the prison from Braneshti, "New Life Church" and "Elim Church" in two different parts of Chisinau, Light of the World Church in Balti, etc. The pastors and the teachers from the Bible School are working in these centers with teams of students and Christians from Philadelphia Church. Since the Christmas of 1997, God has put in the heart of the pastor Doru Cirdei to influence the church to help the street children. So, at Christmas the first gathering of money for this project took place in the church and a special program for the street children started every Sunday. They were invited to a free of charge meal by youth of the church, found on the streets where they were begging. From the number of 45 at the first meeting they grew to the number of about 100 every Sunday. Also from April 1998 we started an every day program with 15-20 street children of feeding, education and social assistance. Our vision for the future is planting 20 churches in different parts of Chisinau and the development of the program with the street children in the other strategic places: Orhei, Nisporeni, Ialoveni, etc. Some of the possibilities for the future are the development of the program for the street children throughout Moldova and the planting of new churches in non-evangelized areas of Moldova. |
